Setting instructions
1. Setting the date
Using the winding-crown, turn the hands forward until the am-pm hand (aux dial at 6 o'clock) is positioned at 2am. Using the setting-stylus, press the appropriate push piece until the required date appears (aperture at 6 o'clock).
2. Setting the day
Using the setting stylus, press until the required day appears (aux dial at 9 o'clock).
3. Setting the month
Using the setting styplus, press until the required month appears (aux dial at 3 o'clock).
4. Setting the time
Using the winding crown, turn the hands to the time of day. The winding crown must be pushed in again when the settings have been completed.

Two things to note here. Seems that PP is quite specific about the order of setting the watch. Example: it seems to suggest that one should not set the month hand before setting the day of week hand.
It seems implicit that the crown is to be left in a pulled out position until all settings are done. Perhaps the combination of pulling out the crown at 2am disengages the calendar mechanism somehow. I wonder...
